I’m Rob Meyer, and I’m proud to introduce myself as the new Editor in Chief of Tree Services Magazine. It’s an honor and a privilege to work for a magazine that covers such esteemed industries like the ones we target here.

Let me tell you about myself. I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and still live in Cleveland. I graduated from Kent State University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication and after college spent several years working as an editor, writer and designer for daily newspapers in Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia.

Along with continuing – and improving – the fine work of our printed magazine, I plan to take this publication into a new era by making sure Tree Services has a first-rate online presence.

I’m a print media junkie. It’s familiar and comforting to open the front door in the morning and pick up the newspaper off the porch, or go to the mailbox and grab the latest edition of a magazine. There’s nothing quite like sitting at the table with your coffee and morning paper, or settling into a chair with your favorite magazine and physically turning each page, getting absorbed in the words and pictures.

Now, in 2014, we also get absorbed in these same words and pictures on our smartphones or tablet screens. And that’s OK. What’s important is that no matter what medium you’re reading Tree Services magazine on, I want you to be reading it. And I want you to feel like what you’re reading is ultimately worth your time.

That’s one of my promises to you. Myself and the Moose River Media team will strive for greatness in each issue.

I want to hear from you. What are some of the issues you face day to day? What challenges are you facing from a personnel perspective or a human resources perspective? What are some hot-button topics?

I want to meet you. You’ll see me at trade shows and other events. I want to hear stories about good things people are doing. You’re going to start seeing more stories about individual people – stories that will hopefully hit close to home. Stories that will make you smile or perhaps even inspire you at your job.

Looking ahead, our team of editors, writers, Associate Publisher Amie Wright and Art Director Liz Kight are working on a re-imagined Tree Services magazine that we will roll out soon. It will have a new look and feel, but our commitment to providing exceptional, timely and interesting content will remain unwavering.

Stay with us – and expect more.
