Bandit Adds New Dealers

Bandit Industries has added McClung-Logan Equipment Co. as a dealer, expanding its offering of Beast Recyclers and whole tree chippers to Chesapeake, Manassas, Richmond, Roanoke, Winchester and Wise, Va. Blue Mountain Equipment Rentals will carry chippers and stump grinders for select counties throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Bejac Equipment Corp. has locations in San Diego, Los Angeles, Sacramento and Redding, Calif., and will carry Beast Recyclers and whole tree chippers. Nortrax, Inc. will carry hand-fed brush chippers and stump grinders in Ontario and Newfoundland and will serve as the exclusive horizontal grinder distributor in Quebec.

Chisholm Wins 18th Straight Title

Mark Chisholm won his 18th straight title at the New Jersey Arborists Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture’s Tree Climbing Competition. Chisholm competed against 22 participants and finished with an overall score of 184.67, taking first place in four events: the secured footlock, aerial rescue, work climb and belayed speed climb. He works as a professional arborist with the family-owned Aspen Tree Expert Co. in New Jersey and has also won the international title on two previous occasions.

Stihl Raises Money for Oregon State Parks

Stihl, Inc. ran a promotion throughout the state of Oregon, donating $5 for the sale of every piece of serialized Stihl equipment, up to $20,000, to the Oregon Parks & Recreation Department. The promotion was a way of showing appreciation for the host state of the 25th anniversary Stihl Timbersports Series. The money raised during the promotion will provide funding for beautification projects and support initiatives such as the Let’s Go Camping program. Later this year, Stihl will work with Oregon State Parks to plant 250 trees in Oregon parks.

Zies is 2010 Texas Tree Climbing Champion

Abram Zies of DFW ArborCare won the Master’s Challenge and took home the Houser Cup as the 2010 Texas tree climbing champion. The winners from the preliminary events included Zies, footlock; Miguel Pastenes, belayed speed climb and work climb; Kenny Baldwin, throw line; and Jimmy Pritchard, aerial rescue. This year’s Master’s Challenge qualifiers were Zies, Pastenes, Pritchard and Jimmy Saucier.

ACRT Appoints New Business Manager

ACRT added William E. Litel to its sales team as new business manager in the western U.S. He has been a member of the ACRT team since 2004, holding the positions of Ready Force team member and senior consulting utility forester. He has more than 20 years of experience and is an ISA Certified Arborist and California Certified Nursery Professional.

Terex AWP Announces Alliance with NJPA

The Terex Aerial Work Platforms segment of Terex Corp. announced a state and municipal purchasing contract award with the National Joint Powers Alliance, which serves more than 31,000 governmental agencies, public and nonpublic educational systems, and nonprofit organizations. The four-year contract will enable Terex AWP to be the NJPA’s exclusive source for aerial work platform products.

ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. has acquired 18 new hydraulic detachable gooseneck trailers for its fleet from XL Specialized Trailers, Inc. The new trailers will be distributed among the company’s 30 branches across North America.

A total of 10 qualified technicians from the ALL family of companies successfully completed the manufacturer-sponsored Manitowoc Crane CARE GMK Level 5 course, the highest level of training that Grove offers outside of its own factory training center. All attendees passed the course on the first try. The technicians came from several ALL branches throughout the country to attend the class at ALL headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.

Wood-Mizer Holds Business Best Contest

Wood-Mizer Products, Inc. is holding its biennial Business Best contest to recognize sawyers who operate successful businesses with their sawmill. A panel of industry judges will review the submissions and choose a grand champion, second and third-place winners and honorable mention.

BTS Adds Two Employees

Biological Tree Services hired David Patterson as field operations manager. He has over 25 years of construction, restoration and maintenance experience from working at private golf clubs and on landscapes. Frank Hammer joined the team as a certified arborist. He has worked in the green industry for 15 years and has maintained his International Society of Arboriculture certification since 2006.

Palfinger Announces New Product Manager

Palfinger North America announced the addition of Greg Sneek to its team as Palfinger crane product manager. He comes to Palfinger with more than 9 years of technical experience in the area of hydraulics, having worked for Hydac Corp. Canada as a product manager and outside sales manager.

Moose River Media Acquires American Nurseryman

Moose River Media, an integrated business information company serving the green and agricultural industries has acquired the assets of Chicago-based American Nurseryman Publishing Company. The transaction includes American Nurseryman magazine, its book division and affiliated electronic properties. The acquisition expands Moose River Media’s stable of green industry and agricultural brands, which includes Turf serving landscape contractors, Tree Services for arborists and Growing and Farming for the agricultural industry.
