This year, cyclists will experience the scenery of Florida in Stihl’s Tour de Trees. The 500-mile cycling tour rolls from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale, Florida from Oct. 25-31, 2015, benefiting the TREE Fund.

Each cyclist commits to raise a minimum of $3,500 for the TREE Fund. The goal is to fund research on urban trees and education programs to connect young people with the environment, as well as to engage and educate young people about why we need trees. Along the way, the Tour des Trees raises awareness of the importance of trees to the quality of urban life with tree plantings and education programs that will take place for young audiences.

Frazer Pehmoeller, from Bartlett Tree Experts, is one of the Tour des Tree’s highest fundraisers since he began participating in 2009. That first year, he raised $9,000 and was the highest fundraiser, and he’s been a contender for the position every year since. It’s a challenge, but for Pehmoeller, the payoff is getting to spend a week with this “tree family.”

To celebrate Arbor Day, every donor who contributes to a Tour campaign from April 19-25 qualifies for a chance to win a piece of artisanal woodwork, while every rider who secures a donation that week gets a chance to win a $100 gift certificate for dinner when the tour stops in Punta Gorda.
