Arborjet Partners with TREE Fund

The TREE Fund is pleased to welcome Arborjet as its newest TREE Fund Partner for 2013. An industry leader in tree injection technology; Arborjet equipment and treatment formulations are used by tree and landscape care professionals, municipalities, institutions and on behalf of homeowners to protect trees from diseases and invasive insects such as Asian longhorned beetle and emerald ash borer.
Arborjet joins TREE Fund Partners Asplundh, KASK, ISA and TCIA in supporting the TREE Fund at the $25,000 level in 2013. Other major sponsors include STIHL, Inc. (Title Sponsor of the Tour des Trees), and Bartlett Tree Experts (TREE Fund Crown Sponsor).

The TREE Fund is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge in urban forestry and arboriculture.
WGIF Hall of Fame Awarded to Greg Long
George Gaumer, Davey’s commercial landscape services vice president and general manager, has announced his retirement. He is a longtime industry leader who retires from Davey with more than 35 years at the company.
Greg Long was inducted into the Wisconsin Green Industry Hall of Fame by Gilbert Yerke at the Wisconsin Nursery Association Winter Workshop on February 7. Yerke said, “The Wisconsin Green industry honors those who have made a significant contribution to the Green industry in Wisconsin. It recognizes those people who have given a lifetime to influence and inspire those of us who have come after them. This year two inductees were selected. Melinda Myers was honored in October. Today, I am pleased to also present this year’s Hall of Fame award to Greg Long.”
Long has received many awards over the years, including the WGIF Distinguished Service Award and the Invader Crusader Award.
Davey Tree Announces Changes
Gaumer began his Davey career in 1977, serving in a number of positions in the residential/commercial service line, including area manager, sales and marketing manager and national sales manager. In 2000, with the establishment of the Davey commercial grounds maintenance group, he was promoted to vice president. He was promoted to his current position in 2005.

Davey also announced two promotions, Dan Joy to vice president and general manager of the Commercial Landscape Services, and Mark Svozil to the position of vice president of operations.
Joy, who has more than 36 years of experience in the industry, served most recently as vice president of the service line. Joy has been the recipient of some of the company’s most prestigious awards, including three “Outstanding Manager” awards and one “Best of Davey Leadership” award. He is also a past member of the President’s Council.
Svozil has more than 20 years of experience in the green industry and most recently held the title of commercial operations manager. Svozil is also a Davey award-winner, having received an “Outstanding Manager” award, “Safety Leadership” award and a “Best of Davey Leadership” award. He is also a past member of the President’s Council.
