From July 23 through July 28, many of you will be gathering in Chicago for the annual International Society of Arboriculture Conference and Trade Show. Whether you’re looking to check out the newest gear, earn some CEUs, watch the world’s best climbers in action or just interact with your peers in the field, you’ll find it at the show. Check out page 12 of this issue for our ISA Show preview, a sneak peek of what some of the industry’s leading companies will be exhibiting. To help you find your favorite companies, we’ve also included a list of booth numbers for this year’s exhibitors, so bring this issue with you to maximize your time on the trade show floor.

Continuing education is critical to professional success, and many of you attend this show to take advantage of the myriad of educational opportunities available, and this year is no exception. Some of this year’s offerings include Tree Biology Through the Seasons, Growing Large Urban Trees for Stormwater Management, Internet Technology for Arboriculture, The Historical Development of Tree Climbing Techniques, Organic Science and many more. A full list of educational sessions is available at ISA’s Web Site, www.isa-arbor.edu . You’ll also have an opportunity to watch the world’s best professional climbing arborists compete in the International Tree Climbing Championship.

Trade shows are also a great opportunity to interact with your peers, trade stories, share tips and learn what issues other arborists are facing. Peer-to-peer interaction is an invaluable resource, and a great way to informally educate yourself through listening to the knowledge of others in the field. And, you never know what opportunities may arise from connections you make with others in the industry.

Of course, we always like to hear your opinions, criticism and suggestions, so take a minute to stop by the Tree Services’ booth #1206 to share your ideas. Have a great time at the show!
