FEVA Hires Mitchell

Forestry Equipment of VA has added Bill Mitchell to its sales team. He previously worked for Aerial Lift of Connecticut for over 25 years. Mitchell will handle direct sales for FEVA in the New England area.

ACRT Appoints Operations Manager

ACRT, Inc. appointed April Kennedy to the position of operations manager in the company’s west region. She was formerly a senior consulting utility forester for ACRT’s West Coast utility partners. Kennedy joined the company just over six years ago. She holds an associate degree in forestry and environmental science and is an ISA-certified arborist and utility specialist.

Stihl, Inc. announced that Kris Williams has been promoted to the position of product information manager. He has been with Stihl since 2003, most recently serving as a product information specialist. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in managerial business from Virginia Wesleyan College.

Distributor Bryan Equipment Sales, Inc. celebrated a milestone in its history as its 5 millionth unit, a BG 55 hand-held blower, was sold to Stihl dealer Bair’s, Inc. The dealership will receive a BR 600 Stihl Magnum backpack blower signed by Fred Whyte, president of Stihl, and Rick Bryan IV, president of Bryan Equipment.

Having helped raise nearly half a million dollars for tree research in 2010 through the Stihl Tour des Trees, the company is returning as the title sponsor for the 2011 tour. The seven-day cycling excursion will take place in the mid-Atlantic region in October and is the signature fundraising event of the Tree Research & Education Endowment Fund.

Arborjet Expands Sales Team

Arborjet announced the addition of two new members to its sales team. Lee Mangum will serve as the Southwest regional manager, focusing on southern California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and parts of Nevada. Mangum holds a bachelor’s degree in parks administration.

As Northwest regional manager, Dawn Ranchie Fluharty will focus on the northern California and Colorado markets, as well as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and parts of Nevada. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental horticulture science.

Husqvarna Partners with WebVisible

WebVisible and Husqvarna announced an exclusive partnership for online search advertising that will increase the online visibility of the manufacturer and its dealers throughout the country, and drive sales for more than 5,000 Husqvarna dealers nationwide. Husqvarna will make available WebVisible’s Geneva Technology Platform and associated services to participating dealers through its co-marketing program. For dealers, WebVisible will create online campaigns and place ads across networks and search engines.

Bartlett Renews Sponsorship of TREE Fund

Bartlett Tree Experts announced that it has signed on as “Crown Sponsor” of the Tree Research & Education Endowment Fund for 2011, renewing its role as lead sponsor of the foundation. This is Bartlett’s second year as Crown Sponsor, which carries a commitment of financial and in-kind support valued at $50,000. Bartlett has been a lead supporter of the TREE Fund since the foundation’s inception in 2002.

OPEAA Announces Officers & Directors

The Outdoor Power Equipment Aftermarket Association announced its 2011-2012 officers and board of directors during its annual meeting. Officers include president Mike Watts, vice president Dale Marcell, secretary/treasurer Jim Paugh and immediate past president Sue Chaney. Continuing their service on the board are Jeff Andrews, Jeff Jerousek and Barry Stiles. Newly elected to the board of directors are Eric Gunderson, Arnaud Legrand, Walter Rieck and Chris Roessler.

Palfinger Appoints Product Specialist

Xander Vooys has been named to fill the newly established role of product specialist for the Palfinger line of Epsilon cranes, hooklifts and cable lifts. He will primarily be responsible for distributor support, demonstration and training for these products. Vooys comes to Palfinger with more than five years of experience in the area of scrap, waste and recycling equipment.

Swingle Acquires LawnCare Aeration Plus

Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care announced the acquisition of LawnCare Aeration Plus to strengthen its market position in Colorado’s northern Front Range communities. Larry Torrez, former owner of LawnCare Aeration Plus, provided lawn care services to his customers for 27 years. Since 2005, Swingle has acquired several other landscape care and holiday dΘcor service companies, expanding its services to all Front Range communities. This newest acquisition will be supported by Swingle’s Fort Collins branch.

Nortrax Opens New Branches

Nortrax, a John Deere Construction & Forestry dealer, announced the opening of two new branches. The branch in Fort Kent, Maine, managed by Dale Blier, will cover northern Maine and into Canada. Tim Irish will manage the store in Gouverneur, N.Y., which will serve northern New York.

Tree Doctors Employees Place in Competition

Tree Doctors, Inc. employees placed in the top three spots in four out of seven events at the annual Arizona Tree Climbing Competition & Master’s Challenge, held in Casa Grande, Ariz. Johnnie Morales placed third overall in the main competition, as well as third in the work climb. Otoniel Diaz and Jose Islas placed first and second, respectively, in the novice sport climb. Dave Spilsbury placed second in aerial rescue.

70 Attend Crane Training Class

The ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. announced that about 70 people from the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, attended a training class focusing on the inspection of rigging components and safe rigging practices. The combination hands-on and lecture class was presented by instructor Bob Graham of The Crosby Group, and the class was facilitated by Mazzella Lifting Technologies.
